Can organisation be traumatised? Sustaining traum-informed approaches through organisational neuroception and psychological safety

The quest to create psychologically safe workplaces is pressing in the health and social care systems. The talk delves into the concept of organizational neuroception—the unconscious process by which both individuals and groups sense safety or threat—and its profound impact on organizational culture and employee well-being. By examining parallel processes between organizational systems and individual experiences, the presentation highlights how unaddressed trauma and systemic stressors can undermine organizational psychological safety. Furthermore, the talk explores how leaders can recognize and respond to neuroceptive cues, model trauma-informed practices, and counterbalance negative parallel processes. Practical, evidence-based NASTI© coaching intervention will be presented to reflect on practical tools to identify, address, and transform subtle yet powerful dynamics that affect trust, collaboration, and organizational health.
