Creative Writing for Therapeutic Purposes, within a female enabling environment in a female prison estate (HMP Newhall, UK)

06/03/2024 10:45 am |

Creative writing may be seen as a purposeful activity to engage women who have experienced trauma within their lives, and are deemed high risk, high need and high vulnerability within a criminal justice context. The women are provided with an opportunity to express themselves, develop positive peer relations and a sense of belonging, through the medium of creative writing, working in a small group on a regular basis, as part of the enabling environment therapeutic programme.
