How Peer Support shaped our Trauma-Informed Journey
In 2016, The Cellar Trust began its journey into developing peer support. Along the way, we learned many lessons—some the hard way— but at every turn we witnessed the unique power of peer support. From the very beginning, people told us they felt more understood, more connected, and more able to share honestly with peers who had walked their path. As our practice evolved, we began to recognise what we were doing was more than peer support alone—we were naturally building trauma informed practice —long before we had the language for it. This session shares our learning so far and how we continue to shape trauma informed support that protects wellbeing, strengthens connection, and keeps everyone safe.
